Living with Courage
I’ve been reflecting recently on the importance of courage—particularly in a world that is changing so rapidly. Many of us are at turning points in our lives, whether by choice or circumstance, and courage is what allows us to step forward into the unknown.
The word courage comes from the French word cœur, meaning heart. True courage isn’t about fearlessness—it’s about heartfelt engagement in life. It’s what we need to move beyond our comfort zones, to listen to what we truly need, and to take the next step forward, even when it feels uncertain.
Courage is required in so many aspects of life:
Leaving a job or relationship that no longer aligns with us
Starting a new project or business that excites us but also feels daunting
Trusting ourselves to make a change, even when we don’t have all the answers
More than ever, we are seeing a shift away from rigid, hierarchical structures and towards individual and collective empowerment. People are stepping into their own power, making decisions that honour their true selves, and co-creating a future that feels more aligned.
Finding Courage in Times of Change
In the groups and coaching work I facilitate, I love supporting people as they find their courage and move towards what truly resonates with them. This process begins with deep self-reflection:
❤️ What do I truly care about?
❤️ What feels important and meaningful to me?
❤️ How can I seek the right support—both internally and externally—to take the next step?
The world is filled with uncertainty and unpredictability, but this can also be a powerful invitation to step into what’s next for us.
My Own Journey with Courage
Last year, we sold our family home of almost 20 years—a decision that marked a significant transition. Most days, I feel grateful that we made the move at the right time and trust that we will find the perfect next home.
But on other days? Doubt creeps in.
I wonder: What were we thinking? Will we ever find the right place?
These moments of fear and uncertainty are normal. They remind me to trust, surrender, and lean into faith—the belief that everything unfolds in its own time and that we are always being guided.
How to Take Your Courageous Next Step
If you’re feeling the pull toward change but struggling with self-doubt, here are a few key reflections to help you move forward:
💡 Get Clear on What You Truly Want – What is calling you forward?
💡 Identify What’s Holding You Back – Is it fear of failure? Fear of success? Lack of clarity?
💡 Ask Yourself: What Do I Need to Move Forward? – More support? A mentor? More direction?
💡 Let Go of What No Longer Serves You – Old fears, outdated beliefs, and limiting stories.
💡 Invite in Qualities That Support Your Growth – Trust, surrender, faith, and resilience.
💡 Develop a Deeper Spiritual Connection – Whether through meditation, prayer, time in nature, or a yoga practice, explore what helps you access a greater sense of support.
