Taking Your Courageous Next Step

Do not ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, because what the world needs is people who have come alive.
— Howard Thurman

What an extraordinary time we’re living through. As the world moves through a profound paradigm shift, many of us are noticing that things are changing, externally and internally.

Amidst the crises, conflicts, and uncertainty, there is also a powerful pull emerging in so many people:
the desire to step into a life that feels more aligned, more authentic, and more heart-led.

At my recent in-person workshop, The Courageous Next Step, I was genuinely moved by how ready people are to listen inward and act from a place that feels true. When I invited participants to introduce themselves as if they had already taken their courageous next step, what emerged was deeply inspiring.

  • The academic and professor introduced herself as an international solo performer.

  • The woman making household products envisioned herself running a successful ecological business rooted in sustainability.

  • Others spoke of creative ventures, community projects, and more meaningful ways of contributing to the world.

What Really Struck Me

What really struck me was that everyone in the room, not just those wanting a new direction, was seeking to build something sustainable, ethical, and of service.

This confirmed what I deeply believe:
when we listen to our hearts, not only do things begin to work out, but we also naturally contribute to creating a better world.

Be the Change

Of course, there were also people who felt overwhelmed or hopeless about the state of things.

My invitation to them was simple and sincere:
Be the change. It starts with us.

Even in difficult times; especially in difficult times, we need to come together, ground ourselves, and reconnect with purpose.

Key Takeaways from the Workshop

1. The world is changing, and it’s asking us to expand, not contract.

This means taking the risk, listening to that inner nudge, and reaching for what we truly long for.

2. We each have a unique role to play.

Whether you’re drawn to interior design, eco-friendly products, performance, or sustainable practices, your work has a wider impact.

3. Growth and sustainability can coexist.

Those seeking to grow their business were also seeking to do so ethically, responsibly, and with care for the planet.

4. The future we wish to create is connected and sustainable.

Different businesses, visions, and talents weave together into a shared future, one that benefits all of us.
